God has forgiven our sins! We still have a long way to go to stop sinning, to adjust our lives to his, and to bear witness to his love and new life…
God has opened communion with Him! It’s surprising, revolutionary, insane, unheard of: do we really realize it?
God has introduced us to new life: this was announced in all the ” Scriptures ” (Bible), where God’s work is written down, working on humanity until He comes to inhabit it, the better to lead it into His presence! This is experienced in the assembly of Christians… in the need to bathe in this new life, to be comforted by it, to nurture it… to sustain it! What makes them come alive becomes visible!
Yes, we really must avoid sinning: We were saved… while we were still half-blind… God has forgiven us and given us His life. Now that we see His works and hear His Word and are made attentive to the word of our neighbors, are we going to continue “as before”?
If Christ teaches us to read the Scriptures by teaching us to receive what God says… the Christian also receives the ability to read the acts and moments of life, to discern what God says and does in them… He also learns to flush out the evil one who wants to destroy God’s work, or even God himself, even though he knows he’ll never succeed.
Never allowing yourself to be overcome by evil (St Paul) also means not misunderstanding the explosions of people or characters, the social ambushes, the political lies or economic deceptions… that hide the evil one’s attempt to undermine and destroy. These are not just “errors” or “malice” on the part of others or ourselves, but much more far-reaching undertakings of destruction and annihilation. This has been seen in the strategy put in place over the last few decades to make abortion accepted as a good… But it’s the same logic that asphyxiates the human heart, through the omnipotence of money as a guarantee of happiness, through indifference to others as the only way to have time for oneself… and so on.
The disciple knows that if he wants to save time, it’s better to read the Gospel rather than consult his cell phone… If he wants to exist a little for himself, he must start by thanking those who allow him to be himself, and then follow in their footsteps to serve… etc.
Let’s not kid ourselves…! If Christ “opens our eyes” to his action… it is also so that we learn to see, so that we know how to act, and so that we decide to follow what the same Holy Spirit says in the Scriptures and in the depths of our conscience, and which perhaps the voice of our neighbor awakens… and “resurrects” in us!
Let us give thanks to God and live again (at last!) with Him and the brothers He gives us…
