Ars parish presentation

When Jean-Marie Vianney was appointed Curé d’Ars, he was told: “You’re going to a parish where there isn’t much love of God, but you’ll put it there”. And he devoted his whole life to it…

Several years after his death, in 1900, the vicar-general of Marseille, Abbé Castellan, wrote: “Every evening at the end of the day, the bell announces the prayer and representatives of all the families come to rest from their hard work. The church, enlarged and adorned, is barely sufficient to cope with the now considerable attendance. The rosary is recited in common. Each Sunday sees more fervent souls approaching the Eucharist. Honesty, harmony and good morals reign among the happy inhabitants of this parish. The land of Ars is a land of blessings.

Our “Land of Blessing” today consists of three parishes forming a group. And three bell towers: the Basilica of Saint Sixtus in Ars, the work of architect Pierre Bossan, which houses the shrine of the Holy Curé.

It's also the church of Saint Laurent in Savigneux, dating from the 12th century.
And the church of Sainte Madeleine in Villeneuve

If this is the case, please contact the parish office during office hours (Saturdays from 9:30am to 12pm), in person or by telephone (04 74 08 17 08), or by e-mail:
